I agree with maishsk, setting up a new DC on a clean Windows Server installation is way quicker than p2ving and having to repair your broken features afterwards.
p2ving might(I'd still doubt it) make less work with a single stand-alone DC. But as soon as you get multiple DC, maybe multiple Domains / Subtrees, it's a real pain. (speaking out of experience when I had to recover a crashed DC from a backup Image may be NSFW.
